Starkey Hearing Foundation Receives the Service to America Leadership Award
EDEN PRAIRIE, MN - William and Tani Austin, received the Service to America Leadership Award for their dedication to providing free hearing aids to hundreds of thousands of children and adults around the world.
Considered the NAB Education Foundation's highest honor, the Service to America Leadership Award recognizes those individuals and organizations that have improved the lives of others through extraordinary public service.
The award was presented to the Austin’s by the Honorable Justice Clarence Thomas during the Celebration of Service to America gala on Monday, June 14, at the Hyatt Regency Washington on Capitol Hill. The Austin’s were greeted by two standing ovations and elected officials from Minnesota, Senator Amy Klobuchar, Congresswoman Michele Bachmann, Congressman John Kline and Congressman Erik Paulsen, were also in attendance to honor Bill and Tani.
Following the presentation, Senator Gordon Smith, President and CEO of the National Association of Broadcasters, announced the NAB’s partnership to host a Starkey Hearing Mission in Washington DC during the radio and television conference in late September.
